Makeup Artist Appreciation Week: JaLauna Anderson

This week is Makeup Artist Appreciation Week on Notorious Styles and we are very excited to be showing love to MUAs because we all have a makeup junkie hiding inside of us somewhere!
Tonight you're in for a treat as we kick off this week with an awesome artist that you're bound to love!
First, here's a helpful makeup tip for you lovely ladies!
TIP OF THE NIGHT: With it being finals week, we know a lot of you all will be staying up studying and utilizing the libraries late hours, to hide those unsightly bags under your eyes, apply a little bit of concealer before you add your foundation.
This will help to hide your crash study sessions and caffeine overloads.

Please state your name and social media handles for our readers!
My name is JaLauna Anderson
IG: @misoprettymua/ @paintmepretty4u

What inspired you to become a MUA?
My love for beauty...I was amazed at how so little makeup could enhance features that you never knew you had.

Is there a particular makeup brand you prefer to others?
I don't have a brand that I prefer more than others, I will say that I prefer drugstore makeup over department store makeup. I use both in my kit but I've found that a Black Opal foundation is just as good as a MAC foundation. It's all about how you apply it.

What was the hardest technique for you to learn? How did you feel when you finally mastered it?
Hmmm...I would have to say highlighting and contouring. It took a lot of trial and error. I could do it on myself with ease, but as a makeup artist you must be able to achieve different looks and use different techniques on each and every client. I've finally mastered it and I highlight and contour for the makeup Gods now!!

The makeup industry is so competitive. What's the secret to your success?
Always remain humble. With trends and looks constantly changing, you must continue to educate yourself. I share my knowledge with everyone because I feel I'm in competition with no one. The talent that I have is God given and there is nothing that can take that away.

What makes you and your talent so NOTORIOUS?
My passion for beauty makes me and my talent so NOTORIOUS. The feeling I get when a client gets the first glimpse of their look and they are so overjoyed. Makeup isn't supposed to change a person's appearance, it only enhances what is already there.

Stay Classy!!
