Guilty Pleasure: Matte Lipstick by Kelli Neche'

Whether you're a fan or not, matte lipstick is definitely becoming a trend.
I can't deny that they have become my guilty pleasure as well.
The makeup junkie inside me can't seem to stop buying them.
My family and I went to Tyson's Corner for Black Friday and my first stop was the MAC counter.
I ended up buying "Velvet Teddy" and "Pleasure Me" to join the "Ruby Woo" and "Sin" I had at home. It took all the self-control I could muster up not to clear the counter!

Jesus, be a restraint!
So in honor of my new found guilty pleasure, I've decided to share the wealth with you all!
First, here's a list of all the matte shades MAC has to offer.
Ruby Woo.
Pleasure Me.
Velvet Teddy.
Hautecore (MAC's new black).
Candy Yum Yum.
Chili.
Diva.
Russian Red.
So Chaud.
Taupe.
Lady Danger.
Pink Plaid.
Honey Love.
Kinda Sexy.
Smoked Purple.
Sin.
Mehr.
Yash.

Next, we'll look at the proper way to apply matte lipstick so that the color will really pop and the shade will last.

  1. MOISTURIZE!!!! Try the EOS Balm if you haven't already!
  2. Apply about a fingertips worth of concealer to your lips using a concealer brush or your finger.

Make sure it's spread evenly. This will allow the lipstick to be spread evenly and act as a primer.
  3. Next, don't be scared to use a lip liner. Do NOT line your lips like it's 1998!! Use a fat lip pencil, your can either fill in your lips entirely or line your lips almost to the opening of your mouth. You can either use a liner that is the same color as the lipstick you plan to wear or an opposing color to achieve an ombre look. Also, try a darker lip pencil like a black or dark blue when wearing a red matte lipstick.
  4. Lastly apply your lipstick in a feathering motion to gain great coverage!
I hope this helped! Until my next guilty pleasure,
Stay Classy!!
