It's the eve of our LOC LOVE WEEK FINALE and you're definitely in for a treat tonight! We appreciate all of the support you've given us this week and hope that you stay tuned for what we have up our sleeve for the month of December!
Before you read up on tonight's feature check out this quote from the amazing and so wonderfully talented musician Bob Marley. One of the most famous loc'd human being of all time!
"The biggest coward of a man is to awaken the love of a woman without the intention of loving her."
Think about it.
Now, for tonight's feature, enjoy!
Hi my name is Sherell the twin sister of Shantell (The Twins with locs).
-Why and when you decided to go natural.I decided to go natural in 04 I believe. I no longer wanted to have any kind of processor in my hair so I grew it out natural
-What sparked you to loc your hair?I was a little hesitant at first because I knew it was a little more permanent... But I was over the cornrow phase and wanted to do something more with my hair. I had seen locs on others but never small and neat...once i had it in my head exactly how i wantes them to be i went for it. I actually tried 3 times and on the third time I finally twisted it myself and let them loc completely.
-Have your locs ever been the cause for a debate or discussion amongst peers and or coworkers.Actually recently it was brought to my attention that my hair being past my shoulders is an issue at one of the plant locations I work at even though its contained at all times...thankfully I'm at a different location right now. But I do realize at some work places/environments it can be made to be a big deal even when you keep your locs neat clean and covered. Besides that yes people ask a lot of questions concerning my hair. Is it real? How long have I been growing it? Does it stink? Lol I get weird questions from some that aren't familiar with locs or African American hair but I answer with no problem.
-What advice do you have for anyone thinking of getting locs and that are on the fence about it.Id say do some research..check out the different style that you're able to wear with locs..look at the different sizes of locs...look at the difference between locs and dreads....find out what to do to maintain your locs and figure out if its something you really want to stick with because it does take patience. It took me a whole year just for my hair to lock up. Everyone's hair is different but that's what's so beautiful about locs, they all tell a different story.
As Always, Stay Classy!
