This week's Notorious talent is none other than Ms. Keenya Kelly Griffin!

Return of the Curls is a natural hair expo and hair fashion show that will be taking place July 28 at the Richmond Convention Center from 10am to 7pm. Some of the sponsors include Jessicurl, Kinky Curly,,, Imago Salon, and many many more. For detailed information and ticket prices make sure you visit
She is also the CEO of Keenya Kelly LLC.

I am pleased to say that I am currently having the pleasure of working with Keenya on Return of the Curls in the marketing department as well as the fashion team for the show. She is one of the most pleasant people I have ever encountered and she defines what a woman of God should be.
I had a brief interview with Keenya via email!

What made you want to branch off and start your own LLC?
I've had a lot of experience in sales/marketing and over the past few years I finally came to terms with the idea that I didn't want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. Also, im the midst of the economy and its uncertainty I was determined to rise when the rest of the "world" was failing.

When and why did you decide to go natural?
I went natural on November 20th 2009. My mother always told me that I had a nice head of hair when I was a young kid and that she didnt know why she relaxed my hair; more so because all of my sisters received a relaxer on a regular basis. So after seeing all of the women in Va sporingtheir naturally curly hair I decided to give it a try.

What is ROTC and how do you think it has grown to be such an anticipated success?
ROTC stands for Return of the Curls, which is a Curly Hair revolution starting in the Richmond, Va which brings together women and children of all ethnicities, encouraging them to embrace their naturally curly hair they were given by God s well as a place where women can come together and appreciate one another and their uniqueness vs tearing each other down, judging or comparing themselves to one another.
I have a sincere love and passion for women and aspire to encourage and inspire women to be the very best that they can be while finding themselves for who they were created to be vs how they currently see themselves.

I believe ROTC is having such great success #1. Because when God has a plan it always succeeds no matter what. #2. Because soooo many women have issues with self-esteem and whether they recognize it or not they want to love themselves more than they currently do, the look to other women to encourage them and help "light their candle" and because Richmond has never had a show like ROTC.

Do you have any advise for young women and men who are trying to be entrepreneurs?
When I am asked this question I always tell people to ask themselves do I have what it takes to run anentire business....every aspect of it. Have I accessed what my strengths and weaknesses are and surrounded myself with people that are stronger than me in my weak areas? Is what I am planning to offer something that is very needed but not available where I am? - This question is because the last thing you want to do is try to reinvent something that is already happening, has a captive audience, because you want to start something that is not happening so that the target audience is potentially all of yours.
I would also recommend that these women begin to work on themselves in the area of self-education. I would recommend that they get a copy of Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robery Kiyosaki, The 21Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and a book writtenby someone successful in their area.

Any natural tips you're anxious to share?
NOPE!!! I'm not a natural hair expert to say the least...I amstill tryingto figure out what's on the top of my head. But if you are looking to follow someone who is trying to figure it out as well, visit me at I would say TAKE YOUR TIME.....dont rush your process...its just that a process. And just like you've beenwearing a relaxer for 20 years and just going natural the past year, its going to take a LONG time to really figure out whats on the top of your head and how to care for events like ROTC are very needed for you.

What do you feel the future have in store for you?
I know that God has major plans in sotre for me as I have been going through my preparation process for a few years now. I know that I will not reside in Richmond, VA forever and that ROTC is just the beginning of what is to come.....just make sure you stay tuned to

What makes YOU and Keenya Kelly LLC. so NOTORIOUS?
Because I know who I am, where I am going and won't stop until I get there. I LOVE LOVE LOVE people, I'm very friendly and have a big heart for people....however as it pertains to my goals, business and -passion....ITS A DONE DEAL!!! Nobody does it the way that Ido, because I do it the way GOD instructs. And because he is the author and finisher of it all...and he ALWAYS WINS...its a done deal!!! SIGNED AND SEALED!!!!!!!
But not only that, through my willingness to God and committment to my future, I am determined to lead milions to Christ. their purpose and their entrepreneurial endeavors.

I hope you all will take heed to Keenya's advice and if you are a naturally curly woman of any shape, size or ethnicity, Return of the Curls is an event that you can't miss!

Stay Classy!
